MCBA successfully held its 55th Annual General Meeting on 18 August 2017 at Double Tree By Hilton Hotel, KL.
In her welcoming speech, the President of MCBA, Puan Nora Manaf touched on a number of issues that had and would impact the banking industry. She also advocated that the rapid and game-changing technological changes that were closely associated with the Revolution 4.0 should not be seen as “disruptive”, as it carried a negative connotation. Instead of the commonly used term “disruptive technology”, she preferred to coin it as “Digital Wonders”. What a refreshing perspective!
Two resolutions were passed by secret balloting at the Annual General Meeting. The first was to amend the Rules with regard to the scope of membership while the second concerned the revision of rates for the annual membership subscription.
The Annual General Meeting was well attended by representatives of member banks. Among the Heads of Human Resources were Puan Nor Rozita Nordin (Affin Bank), Ms. Kok Lai Ching (OCBC Bank), Mr. Lee Voon Seng (UOB) and Ms. Florence Foo (Standard Chartered Bank). Apart from the MCBA EXCO members, most of the Heads of Industrial Relations from member banks were also present to grace this occasion.
