MCBA successfully held its 50th AGM at Crowne Plaza Mutiara Kuala Lumpur on 15 June 2012. Close to 40 participants from member banks attended the function.
The highlight of the AGM was the opening speech by the President, Puan Nora Abd Manaf. In her speech, she touched on a wide variety of pertinent topics. Among other things, she highlighted the contributions and efforts made by the out-going EXCO member banks and their individual representatives; the past achievement of the Association over the last 50 years; the need for member banks especially the bigger banks to take a leading role in the Association; the challenges faced by the Association in the ensuing collective agreement negotiation with the various unions; the need to link rewards to productivity and the approach to deal with demands for higher wages in the context of a broader national agenda; the counter-offer of MCBA to the various unions so that the employees’ total remuneration packages remain at the top quartile in the market; the need for member banks to stay united to face common challenges ahead.
The outgoing EXCO members were unanimously re-elected to serve another 2-year term for period 2012 – 2014 as follows:
