You would agree that building effective leadership is not about just developing the necessary “leadership” competencies in individuals and expect these acquired skills to just unfold as individuals are placed in leadership roles. More often than not, leaders are faced with many obstacles and challenges at every step. To keep going despite that, more than anything else, a leader needs abundant energy to stay the long course without giving up. Leadership therefore is about finding your own energy. And energy really is the key and vital ingredient to build a strong personal leadership foundation.

But then, how do you, as leader, find, maintain and sustain that energy?

Close to 30 participants from member banks found out that magic answer at a talk on “Personal Leadership – finding your own energy” which was organized by MCBA on 11.11.11 in collaboration with  ICLIF Leadership & Governance Centre, a highly acclaimed organization and service provider of usable leadership development, organization performance, corporate governance programs and advisory services that are designed to enable sustainable and responsible business growth.

A very seasoned trainer and speaker, Ms. Karen R Shepherdson who is currently the Director, Research & Curriculum of Iclif Leadership & Governance Centre delivered the talk.

The participants truly enjoyed the talk as the contents were all research-based.

Date  :  21st November 2011

Have you ever encountered these challenges?

Staff failed to turn up to work without leave and notice; staff took excessive medical leave; staff frequently took sick leave or emergency leave prior to or immediately after a public holiday or weekend; staff refused to go on leave during low-peak season; staff frequently “MIA” on the job… the list of challenges go on…

Initiated by MCBA to share best practices among members of the HR communities in the banking industry, more than 30 participants from member banks gathered together on 21.11.2011 to exchange ideas and learn different ways to effectively deal with, control and manage such leave and absenteeism.

This learning program was led by a very experienced facilitator, Mr. Vivekanandan who has more than 4 decades of professional experience in industrial relations. The participants benefited a great deal from his sharing particularly from his highlights on    several industrial court cases that deal with the rights of employers and employees on the subject.
